You have $250,000. What 2 new cars do you buy?
Personally, I’d have a very green garage:

Define “new”. Would something like a singer or ICON count?

Could you get one for less than $250K?

im thinking of a maltec Maltexporer. technically a 25 year old 80 series with a new body and interior but its completely rebuilt.
https://www.maltec.org/toyota/
It’ s about 121 grand.
So that plus...only two cars you say?
hmmm
I’ll get back to you.

Decked out Ariel Atom and I’d debate between a Ford Raptor or a Jag F -Pace SVR.

If that’s not polar opposites, I don’t know what is.
Any particular reasoning?

If I had $125,000 for one car, it’d be the F-Pace SVR. Practical and stupid fast.

The Taycan for fun, commuting, and all the electric torques.
The Ram for hauling/towing, road tripping , and for all the diesel torques.
If I have to spend $250,000 why not get two complimenting vehicles. There’s basically no overlap in capability here.

I’m so overwhelmed with the possibilities. And I fantasize about affordable used cars all the time, that I’m at a loss. Lately I’ve been obsessing about 2013 LR4's, they make a brown one! But perhaps if I had to have new, it’d be the new 110 and maybe an RS6.

Vantage AMR Manual for £150,000

C8 Z51 3LT with MR shocks puts me at about $80k
The Colorado ZR2 Bison tacks on another $50k for a grand total of about $130k, leaving about $120k for mods.

Whatever the lowest power Elise Lotus are making this week. Turns out it’s 220hp and supercharged. About $50,000
Plus the van version of the new Defender, in a (for now) theoretical 110 version. Again, about $50,000.
If that doesn’t exist, then I’m sure it would be possible to build a new version of the previous version and register it as a kit car.

How much car does one need? I went for a T-M odel E350d, basically the small six cylinder diesel, option packages focused on driver comfort, basic black on black leather/cloth interior, classic MB exterior in metallic red and the smallest wheels possile. Sets me back about €69,000, the rest gets put aside into as savings , because I am single and don’t need much more than this anyway.

Id wait two years and then get a C8 Z06 and A F150 Raptor. The money left over can go to a nice lift.
I have seen the SVR in person and it looks beastly, but I think the C8 would be a better fit for me.

For me, fast is fast. I don’t need the capability of the Z06, I just want something that looks good and makes good noises that also goes fast

So when I went out for a test drive I picked a manual C7 Z51. Piece was reasonable and it looked ok, but it was a 1LT trim and when I pushed it it wasn’t much faster than my IS-F, and I knew I was going to need more.
At this point I’m breaching supercar performance numbers but I feel pretty comfortable with the setup.
I'm up for a drive next week and this drive last year, a SVR showed up. If he does again this year, I'll take photos and share.

It’s all about relativity. An F Type R isn’t a ton faster than an ISF, but it is when compared to a G37. Shoot, the Defender isn’t much slower than my G37 with its 0-60 of 6.1 seconds
VajazzleMcDildertits - read carefully, respond politely
> dtg11 - is probably on an adventure with Clifford
09/11/2019 at 15:26 | 2 |
It IS all about relativity for shure.
I have a FWD V6 Crosstour which has surprised a lot of people with its unexpected 0-60 of 7 seconds and quarter of 15.9 s @ 92 mph
which is pretty quick for a working class lumbering manatee.
Let’s see the rest.
G37 does 0-60 5.0 and a quarter of
13.5@105.3 mph
per Motor Trend.
IS-F does 0-60 4.5 and a quarter of
12.9 sec @ 111.4 mph
per MT.
C7 Z51 does 0-60 3.9 and a quarter of
12.2 sec @ 119 mph
per Car and Driver.
F Type R does 0-60 3.5 and a quarter of
11.8 sec @ 122 mph
per C&D.
C7Z does
0-60
3.0 and has a quarter of
11.1 sec @ 127 mph
per C&D.
So the bottom two are clearly way more ridiculous than the top two, with the Z51 nestled in the middle there.
Doing some quick calculations on G-force acceleration per quarter:
Crosstour V6 0.26 G
G
37 0.36G
IS-F 0.39G
C7 Z51 0.44G
FTR 0.47G
C7 Z06
0
.52G
So the Jag or Z06 will do nearly double the accelerative force of a reasonably quick working class vehicle, which is pretty amazing.
You couldn’t go wrong with either, but I just wanted lay out the difference in forces involved, and how incredible they’ve gotten. And they’re only getting faster!
